What Are Air Precleaners?

Air cleaners have become essential equipment for improving our ecosystem as it eliminates the harsh elements produced by running vehicles and factory outlets. Moreover, they remove the dirt and debris from the air before they get to the filtration devices for elongating your machinery’s filter life.

The air filters need to be monitored regularly as clogged filters impact the fuel economy and the life of the engine components. Engines used in dusty environments require more maintenance time. Furthermore, the more dust accumulated in the surrounding environment, the more frequently air filters need to be replaced.

This ultimately results in recurring machinery downtime. In such instances, air precleaners prove to be an easy and efficient way of increasing the air filter’s lifespan and equipment productivity.

How Do Air Precleaners Work?

Dirt or debris can enter a machinery’s engine in several different ways. However, the most likely and potentially harmful way it can enter an engine is through the air intake system.

In fact, airborne debris, ranging from 10 to 100 microns in size, are typically the most damaging to engines.

Once connected to your equipment’s air intake, air precleaners can be effectively used to extend your air filter’s life, as they’re designed to keep contaminants from entering the engine. It starts with the contaminated air passing through the precleaner’s angle vanes, which are broad blades attached to its turbine. This innovative air precleaner’s design is encapsulated with an impeller rotor, creating a tornado-like centrifugal force that removes all kinds of dirt, debris, and chaff through the discharge louver.

The newly cleaned air then enters the engine intake pipe, leaving only the smallest of dirt particles that are later eradicated through the regular filtration system. This processed air is up to 90% purer than what would have originally entered your engine’s filtration system. Ergo, it effectively reduces the risks of any air filter restrictions that are usually caused due to the dirt-clogging vents afterward.

Benefits of Air Precleaners?

There are numerous benefits from both financial and production perspectives for using an air precleaner:

• It removes up to 90% airborne debris before the air enters in the machinery’s filter system.
• An air precleaner extends the engine’s longevity up to 10 times.
• Fewer filter changes result in less machinery’s downtime.
• It decreases fuel consumption, as the clean air automatically increases the equipment’s fuel.
• Precleaners extend the life of the oil filter.
• It reduces breakdowns, decreasing the maintenance cost.
• Air precleaners provide a fast return on investment.

Where Are Air Precleaners Used?

Air precleaners can be used in different industries and sites for eliminating harmful elements from the environment. The most basic types of machinery where this equipment is often used include:

• Loaders
• Scrapers
• Drills
• Dozers
• Excavators
• Compactors
• Dump Trucks
• Graders
